Moi University’s newly appointed Vice-Chancellor Prof. Isaac Kosgey has issued a stern warning against the striking lecturers at the institution on continuation with continuation with the unprotected strike. In view with the latest Court order of the universities to punish the lecturers, Prof.Kosgey added that no salary would be paid to staff who have not been working.
The court declared the now 42 day strike unprotected and prohibited but The University Academic Staff Union ignored the orders to return to work.
Public universities have now been directed to take discplinary measures against the workers who will not report to work.
In a memo to the Moi University staff, Prof. Kosgey stated that the university will take other disciplinary actions against the striking dons in due course. On the other hand, the staff who are ready to resume duty are to register with their respective Heads of departments on a daily basis with immediate effect.
Sources have also revealed to Niaje Kenya that Prof. Kosgey held a closed door meeting with the Heads of department where The HODs were requested to call their respective staffs back to work.
