Its early in the morning. Your body is still sleeping but your mind is awake. You are thinking in between your dreams. You’re thinking of how empty your life feels. How you do nothing all day while your friends are up and down chasing their dreams. You’re wondering why you’re not chasing anything. You used to have a dream but slowly it has faded away. What a tragedy as you’re only 21.
Wait! You’re only 21. 21 is young. You still have your whole life ahead of you. You can still dream. Anyone can dream right? now all you need is one specific dream. There have been many along the way but there is that one thing you’ve always had a passion for. You’ve always liked to draw. You’ve always liked to write. You’ve always had a thing for the creative arts. Now you have a dream. You decide you’ll do it. For real this time. You’ll wake up early and you will draw. You will skip breakfast so you can write. N you’ll stab anyone who tries to take your pen away. You’re so fired up you might even wake up right then and google ‘creative arts’.
By this time the morning breeze is getting to your bed. You turn and tug your blankets tightly. And your mind drifts off. Along with your body. 9 O’clock comes and you finally open your eyes. Your 8:00 am class is underway but really who expects you to wake up that early? You grab your phone and go through your social media. The people you follow had amazing nights last night. They attended a galas and award shows. They launched new products and entered new partnerships. How did they get to be so successful? Two hours later you’re finally rolling out of bed. You take a quick shower and while you get dressed your stomach starts complaining. Hell its almost lunchtime you might as well cook.
Three hours later, it’s so hot outside and you are on a full stomach. Oh! How lazy you feel. You remember that assignment you have. Just thinking of it is exhausting. You’ll do that later. It’s the perfect time for a movie. Why not watch other people do something with their lives? So you draw your curtains and get comfortable. It’s a great movie. As it ends you think, what’s one more movie?’ and put on another one. Evening comes and you’ve not been outside your room yet. You got to go somewhere. You hit up your friends and they are all busy. What are people busy doing? Are you supposed to be doing anything yourself? Wasn’t there an Association of Lazies where you all sat down and did nothing all day? Anyhow, you’ll visit them another day. Time to finish up that series you’ve been watching.
Six episodes later you’re starting to doze off. The series has to end though. You can’t take the suspense. Why wait till tomorrow to watch one episode? You watch it through half closed eyes and when it’s over you feel like you conquered the Everest. That was a good ending. They should release the next season tomorrow. It’s just too good.
As you get into bed a familiar emptiness starts to creep up your soul. Looking back at your day you did nothing useful. As you drift off you remember your early morning conviction. Whatever happened to that story you were to write. You had the layout in your head already. All you needed was to take the pen and paper then the story would have written itself. Oh! What a wonderful story it would have been.
